Jujube Care
Jujube is a durable, heat-tolerant fruit tree well suited to sunny, well-drained sites. Once established it tolerates drought better than many fruit trees, but irrigation during fruit development improves growth and crop quality.

Jujube Care Basics
- Sun: Plant in full sun.
- Soil: Jujube tolerates a wide range of soils but requires good drainage.
- Water: Water consistently during establishment; mature trees tolerate drought but benefit from irrigation during extended dry periods.
- Fertilizer: Use modest fertilizer; excessive nitrogen can stimulate vegetative growth at the expense of fruiting.
- Pollination: Some cultivars set alone, but planting two genetically different jujubes can improve fruit set.
- Pruning: Train young trees for strong structure and remove root suckers if present. Mature trees generally need only moderate thinning and size control.
- Harvest: Fruit can be eaten crisp when brown color begins to develop or allowed to become fully brown and softer.
- Naming: “Jujube” is the standard common name; cultivar names should be kept distinct from the crop name.
